Actuarial Director (Medicare Pricing)

The Actuarial Director will be a part of the Group Retiree Solutions (GRS) actuarial pricing team. This is an individual contributor role; the actuary will be expected to provide strategic input in accelerating GRS growth, develop competitive pricing quotes and long term projections, and provide insights into key assumptions, such as medical and pharmacy claims trends and risk adjustment. In this role, the GRS director will be a trusted advisor for the GRS actuarial manager, will assist in supervising the actuarial analysts on the team, and be back up as the key point of contact for internal business leaders across various departments and external clients and consultants.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Prepares and interprets data and related formulae.
• Monitors trend of profit and profitability by line of business and/or product.
• Serves on major, multi-function projects as Actuarial representative.
• Organizes and directs the staffing and work flow of the section.

The ideal candidate is expected to have:

• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work well with team members and collaborate on various projects.
• Ability to develop relationships within/outside of the Department.
• Medicare experience as senior pricing actuary in a healthcare or consulting organization
• Outstanding verbal/written communications, presentation, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, multitasking, working independently.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS/BA degree; FSA from the Society of Actuaries (SOA), and at least 6 years of related experience; or, ASA from the Society of Actuaries (SOA), and at least 9 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
• Risk adjustment and trend analysis experience preferred.
