Job Summary: Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares analysis and reconciliations of P&L and balance sheet accounts for Selfhelp and related entities.
  • Prepares cash flow projections.
  • Performs general accounting tasks which may include accounts payable tasks, accounts receivable tasks, making bank deposits and transfers, maintaining cash journal, and general journal.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as GL accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Closes the books (general ledger) at month end for Selfhelp and related entities.
  • Prepares various analytical review analysis and reports of month end financial information, including a comparison of actual financial information to budgeted financial information. Such comparisons include actual dollar amounts, balances and metrics.
  • Prepares financial sections of grant reports.
  • Responsible for tracking grants received by Selfhelp.
  • Monitors and tracks grant expenditures on a monthly basis.
  • Inputs adjusting journal entries on an as needed basis.
  • Assists in the yearly budget preparation and maintains budgets for Senior Community Programs as required.
  • Interfaces with auditors for year end audit.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing expenses, budget allocations, assets, liabilities and capital. Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statements, trail balance and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as GL accounts, documenting business transactions.

Knowledge, Skills And Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Accounting or Finance and at least two years of related experience or an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be computer literate with intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Lotus 1-2-3 and Quicken.
  • Knowledge of MIP and other general ledger software
  • Combination of both non-profit and for profit corporations is preferable.
