Project Nature:
To provide one Programmer for the IT in Education (ITE) Section of EDB for a period of 12 months tentatively from 3 August 2021 to 2 August 2022.
One of the core duties of the ITE Section is to plan and organise Professional Development Programmes (PDPs) to provide training for school leaders and teachers and Centre of Excellence (CoE) support services in relation to ITE. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, suspension of face-to-face classes encouraged more schools to implement blended mode of learning and teaching with the help of e-learning tools and software, which caused the surge of demand for PDPs, CoE support services, webinars and online self-learning courses for enhancing teachers' capabilities in online teaching amid the "new normal". A programmer will be engaged to develop a system to maintain the relevant data and provide reports for better planning for the section, as well as to provide support during the webinars and assist in production of online self-learning courses.
Job Description:
1. To render advice and support on technical matters related to wired / wireless network infrastructure and IT security through phone enquiries and visits to schools.
2. To render technical advice to schools on conducting the procurement exercises for renewing of WiFi services.
3. To assess IT security alerts forwarded by ITMD and HKCERT to ITE Section, and prepare related IT security alerts with incident handling procedures for schools' reference via email and EDB web page.
4. To design and produce learning and teaching resources, including videos, to schools.
5. To assist in developing a system related to framework of essential skills on IT in education for teachers
6. To assist in production of online self-learning courses.
7. To assist in drafting technical specifications of quotations for training courses for technical support staffs (TSS).
8. To assist in conducting on-going review and update of the ?Information Security in Schools - Recommended Practice?.
9. To monitor the maintenance and configuration of different network devices (e.g. NAS and Firewall) in the section.
10. To assist in developing a system to maintain the data of PDPs and support services provided by the section.
11. To perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Yrs of Total Post-Quali Exp 2.0 Requirements The Programmer is required to work during office hours normally, but may be required to work outside normal office hours including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays as and when required. He/she has to provide technical advice and support to schools and teachers on setting up relevant facilities to implement the blended mode of teaching and learning, as well as new initiative related to e-learning. Details are outlined in the above section on ?Job Description?. Site visits to the Schools have to be conducted if necessary.
Technical Skills:
. At least 6 months' experience in Information Security Management (ISM);
. At least 6 months' experience in IT Security (ITS);
. At least 6 months' experience in Internet Firewall Technical Support (IFW);
. At least 6 months' experience in Infrastructure (INF);
. At least 6 months' experience in Mobile / Wireless Communication (MWC);
. At least 6 months' experience in Networking (NET);
. At least 6 months' experience in Wireless and Mobile (WLM);
. At least 6 months' experience in Wireless Technology (WLT);
. 6 months' experience in Network & System Management (NSM) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Wide Area Network (WAN) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Network Design (NDN) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Internet/ Intranet (INT) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Linux System Administration (LIN) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Microsoft Internet Information Services (MIS) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Multimedia (MUL) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Adobe Illustrator (ADI) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Adobe Premiere (ADP) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Adobe Photoshop (APH) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) is an advantage.
Non-technical Skills:
. At least 6 months' experience in IT service/outsourcing management (OUT);
. 6 months' experience in quality management (QMT) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in IT Service Management (SMG) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in site preparation (SPE) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in customer service (CLS) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in Good coordination skills (CON) is an advantage;
. 6 months' experience in work with the Government (GOV) is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's degree/Higher Diploma in Computer Science, IT or equivalent;
  • At least 2 years' post-qualification experience in which at least 1 year's relevant experience in a similar post and in a comparable capacity.
