About our Centralised Sterilising Services Unit at Monash Health, Casey Hospital

Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 18,000 people across a range of specialities.

Our newly built state of the art Centralised Sterilising Services Department (CSSD) plays an important role in providing high quality service to Theatres, Endoscopy, Day Surgery Unit and other clinical areas.

About The Role

We are seeking Grade 4 and 5 Instrument Technicians to join our newly built state of the art Centralised Sterilising Services Department (CSSD).

As a member of our team, you will provide support to the surgical staff to ensure positive patient outcomes are achieved via appropriately sterilised surgical instrumentation.

The service operates 24/7 and our Instrument Technicians typically rotate through all phases of the reprocessing cycle. The Instrument Technician role reports to the CSSD Nurse Manager.

As the CSSD Instrument Technician your responsibilities include:

  • Thermal disinfection, packaging and sterilising of all instrumentation for theatre and other clinical areas
  • Comply with AS/NA standards 4187 2014, GENCA
  • Operate, interpret and document all machinery operational requirements
  • Report and document all quality activities
  • Ensure priority of instrumentation and processes
  • Endoscope cleaning and reprocessing experience desirable

We currently have several opportunities for experienced Instrument Technicians as we look to build our team with both Full Time and Part Time positions available.

About You

With previous experience in this field, you will have demonstrated skills in an acute setting and thrive when working in a fast-paced environment. We look for your flexibility in order to respond proactively and adapt to the changing needs of CSSD.

You will have well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work both autonomously and with Supervision as required.

With your well-developed communication and organisational skills, you are easily able to liaise and engage with others at all levels to deliver outcomes in a timely manner.

What you need:

  • Cert IV in Health – Sterilising Practice for Technicians course or equivalent from a Registered Training Organisation
  • Demonstrated working experience as an Instrument Technician
  • Australian working rights
