Position: Safety Risk & Assurance Manager
Remuneration/Benefit: Attractive Salary + Bonus on Offer
We’re looking to do things a little bit differently here at Aurizon, and as such, this newly created role will see you leading the Safety Risk & Assurance team for the largest rail freight operator in Australia.
As the Manager of Safety Risk & Assurance, you will own and drive the enterprise-wide safety risk and assurance framework to support the business in identifying and assessing safety risk, using both qualitative and quantitative risk methods. You’ll ensure the team works in collaboration with key stakeholders to uplift capability and process maturity in critical safety risk and control management across the business to improve the Company’s safety performance and to protect our people, our business and our communities.
Reporting into the Head of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), not only does this role primarily own and evolve the Safety Risk & Assurance Strategy but will look to deliberately shift Aurizon’s safety culture into the future.
You’re a natural collaborator with significant experience and passion for leading a diverse and technical team. When it comes to leadership, you lead by example, are intuitive and have a vested interest in development to ensure you’re getting the best out of your team.
You thrive on working in a dynamic environment and champion a culture of collaboration and accountability within the Corporate Safety team to enable optimal ways of working across the Safety community. Subject matter expertise, governance and assurance of safety risk in line with legislative requirements is second nature to you and your high level of business and commercial acumen is what allows you to connect to the bigger picture to drive outcomes.
You’ll collaborate with your peers, team members and other key stakeholders to design, develop and implement the Company’s safety incident management and investigation framework across the business.
We want you to not only love what you do, but to come in, work with your team and generate new ideas and thinking, challenge the status quo and be challenged. We understand that there is a serious nature to the role, however, having that team engagement and fun at work should never go astray.
