Where can water take you?
Advancing your career will advance our community too.
Water Corporation exists to make WA a great place to live and invest by delivering water services safely, with the lowest environmental impact and at the lowest total cost. The Strategic Planning Office (SPO) is a newly-created, highly collaborative function, which will play a key role in enabling us to achieve this vision for our customers and community.
About the role:
What are your PMO investments looking to achieve over the next 12 months?
If you’re regularly questioning why some investments aren’t aligned with your company’s strategic goals, you may find this opportunity of interest.
Imagine being freed up by a supportive CEO and executive team, so you can look for ways to improve ROI, advise on investment opportunities and help a company achieve its strategic objectives. Now picture yourself having a clear run at reporting on investment management best practices.
In the role of Senior Analyst – Portfolio Investment Management, you’ll have the opportunity to put your broad PMO knowledge to better use. Because you know how a large, complex organisation ticks, you’ll feel at home managing an enterprise-wide investment request framework.
It’s your vision that’ll help Water Corporation make essential decisions on boosting ROI across people, performance, systems and safety. Your investment recommendations will come from reviewing financial impact statements (FIS) and you’ll be able to keep a forward-looking outlook of investments in a multi-year portfolio.
To support you, you’ll have the opportunity to work with innovation specialists to bounce ideas off, provide recommendations for funding and continually drive portfolio progress.
You won’t feel like you’re in a PMO administration centre. You’ll have sight of actual and forecasted spend against total expenditure portfolio budget, so you can regularly review it. Supplied with this information, you can provide investment insights and reporting that’ll help the executive team get a better view of the big picture.
On top of this, you’ll have access to all the tools to support program and project managers with investment guidance. You’re helping them make sure investment requests can add and create value across a business of 3,000 people.
Communication is crucial for you. This is why you keep an eye on any portfolio investment impacts and you bring relevant stakeholders closer to the action. With your knowledge and experience, you’ll know how to continuously improve portfolio investments and build investment management capabilities across a large, complex organisation.
You’ll join the SPO team in Leederville. They’re a supportive bunch and you’ll learn a variety of knowledge and new perspectives. Like you, they’re joining because they feel a sense of achievement when they see their work come to life. It’s the type of work that’s rewarding, looks great on your CV and lands you promotions.
Speaking of which, Water Corporation has further improved its learning and development framework, which means you can add to your existing hoard of skills and further your career with a company that promotes from within.
This is a permanent, full-time role with flexible working arrangements. What this means for you is, you can drop off or pick up the children from school - or enjoy a bit more ‘me time.’ No justifications expected.
Key Skills and Experience:
To slot straight into this fast-paced environment, you’ll have an Economics, Accounting, Finance, Actuarial or Business degree. While qualifications will back your application, it’s your personality and appetite for financial modelling, investment multi-dimension evaluations and business case assessments that’ll help you hit the ground running.
As will your experience with enterprise-wide, multi-disciplinary portfolio programs, alongside your knowledge of project management practices.
Your broad PMO or business investment background means you’ll know how to interact with executive and leadership teams.
